Support Small Farms and Businesses
I believe small farms and businesses are better than big corporations. Small farms will give animals the life they deserve. Also, they are less likely to put harmful chemicals on their fruits and vegetables. Overall, supporting your local business means you are supporting your community.
Did you know cows can make emotional bonds with other cows? Like humans, they can create long-lasting friendships. But, we still treat them like items that are only good for human appetites. On local farms cows and other animals have these opportunities to make long-lasting friendships before they die. For this reason, we should let cows and other animals have besties and not let the big corporations treat them like food.
The food you get at a local farmer’s market is often healthier than what you get at a grocery store. They are selling you fruits and vegetables with pesticides and eating these pesticides could lead to long-term effects. But wait, it isn't just on your fruit and veggie, it also could appear on your wheat, rice, olives, and many more so watch out. Data from the US Department of Agriculture found that 85% of all food tested positive for pesticide residue. (Gillam) To avoid the evil pesticides, you can shop at your local farmer's market.
Local farmers' markets are better than grocery stores because they have a better community you can’t get anywhere else. When I was little I used to see all my school friends at the farmers market after my soccer game. People used to sell fresh treats that you couldn’t get anywhere else that I ate for breakfast. I also like to check out the jewelry people sell there and even buy them. Sometimes they even give me a discount because I know the seller somehow. Overall, farmer’s markets bring the community together.
Therefore, I believe supporting a local business or farm is better. You will get fresh healthier food. While the animal lives more humanely as well. Plus an amazing community is just an added bonus.
